The city of Dallas and the surrounding area is mostly flat, rising just 450-550 feet within city limits. It is also completely encircled by land, which makes Dallas the largest inland metropolitan area in the United States that lacks any navigable link to the sea.
Dallas is known for its barbecue, authentic Mexican food and unique Tex-Mex flavors. The city also loves a good party, as it hosts a number of major events each year. Among the most popular are Cinco De Mayo celebrations, a huge St. Patrick’s Day Parade and a Greek Food Festival. The annual college football game called the Red River Shootout between Texas and Oklahoma at the Cotton Bowl is also a huge draw.
