Sunny San Diego is not only the birthplace of the Starlings, but home to the highest concentration of clubs in the nation.
Nearly all of the Starlings National Tournaments have been held locally, and the city has a rich volleyball history.
But outside of sport, it is a beautiful city that is home to 1.3 million within city limits and more than twice that in the county. The U.S. military has a long presence in the city, and agriculture, biotechnology, and computer engineering are major industries. Tourism is also a major economic force, thanks to attractions like SeaWorld, the San Diego Zoo and miles of beaches.
Eighteen clubs call San Diego home: Clairemont, Crawford, Eastlake, Escondido, Kearny, Lakeside/Santee, La Mesa/El Cajon, Mission Bay, National City, Navajo, Oceanside, Point Loma, San Diego City, Scripps Ranch, Skyline, Southeast San Diego, University City and Wolf Canyon.
