The 17th annual Starlings nationals drew 93 teams this year with players representing cities from Baltimore to Los Angeles. Opening ceremonies were wildly fun, as usual, with team exchanges and dancing on the gym floor from booming music of our favorite DJ, Jeff Bush.
Another highlight was the shared views by coaches and players who spoke on this year’s theme of the annual Literary/Art Contest: “My Starlings Team: What It Means to Me.”
The level of play continued elevate in all four age Divisions. Winners of the gold division were:
12s Division: Tuba City, AZ
14s Division: City of Los Angeles
16s Division: Indianapolis
18s Division: South Phoenix
The Indianapolis title in the 16s — as well as a bronze medal for their 18s team — marked the emergence of a new power. Director Michelle Brittain-Watts tireless efforts over the past 17 years have been well rewarded. For complete results of the tournament, download this PDF.
