JVA Resources for Directors

Our partnership with JVA provides the following:

  1. Free Director/Coach Membership (follow steps below)
  2. Access to JVA Insurance 
  3. Reduced cost to some JVA tournaments depending on who is hosting the tournament.  Contact
  4. Portal for processing coaches/volunteers who work with the players in your club for (a) background screening and (b) APS Training
  5. JVA Club Training Curriculum modules as a resource for junior volleyball clubs to:
    1. Create a system of checks and balances for directors to evaluate their coaches at each age division to determine if they are teaching the essential concepts and skills for athletes to be prepared for the next age division.
    2. Act as a guide for coaches to reference to train the skills and concepts for their age division.
    3. Provide a consistent and cohesive map to progress each age group forward

  2. Login top right hand corner
    • - Login: your email
    • Password: Password1! (if you have a current membership, it will just be the password you already created)
  3. Access your benefits!

ADDING COACHES: follow the JVA portal process below

Background Screen/APS Training Process & Procedures

POLICY:

  • Starlings Club Directors must be background screened and cleared by JVA or USAV
  • Starlings Club Directors are responsible for ensuring that ALL Coaches (18 years +) are background screened and cleared by JVA or USAV
    • Note: Head Coaches must be 18 years or older.
    • Jr Coaches (16-17 years old) serving as Assistant Coaches, must be under the constant physical supervision of an adult (18+) Coach or Director, at ALL TIMES.
    • Communication (text/email/meeting, etc.) with players/minors must be done by or include a background screened adult coach.
  • Starlings Club Directors are responsible for ensuring that ALL Coaches complete Safe Sport (USAV) or Abuse Prevention Training (JVA)

 PROCESS: (ALL Directors)

    1. JVA provides Starlings Club Directors with a FREE JVA Membership.  Your membership has already been set up by JVA.  Here is the link to log into your JVA account:  https://jvavolleyball.org/
    2. If you have an issue accessing your membership or resetting your password, email mandy.gruchow@jvavolleyball.org and COPY Ginny.Starlings@gmail.com
    3. Once a Starlings Director has their Club Portal set up with JVA, they can send respective coaches a “code” to join their club
    4. Directors who are NOT participating solely in USAV sanctioned tournaments, follow this process:
      1. Make sure you have set up your club properly and have access to your club’s portal with JVA (step #1above).
      2. Have ALL of your Coaches (Head & Assistant - 18 yrs+ and any volunteer working directly with the players, must complete a background screen before working with the players. You will have a code that JVA give you that links them directly to your portal.
      3. Upon completion, Coaches will receive two emails (NCIS / Background and Abuse Training Screen). Directors, you will see these in your portal as “REQUESTED”.
      4. Directors, watch & check your portal for an update.  Once the Coach has cleared the JVA Background Screening and Abuse Prevention Training, the portal will say “CLEARED”.
    5. Once a Coach is cleared by USAV or JVA; they can complete the STARLINGS COACH MEMBERSHIP FORM.   *Note: Coaches will need the link from you and to be cleared by JVA..
    6. After Coaches complete the STARLINGS COACH MEMBERSHIP FORM, Directors will place individual Coaches into TEAMS by “sending/sharing” the respective team link –

*(DO NOT “INVITE” or “MOVE” Coaches onto Teams)*

JVA Insurance

If you need to insure your team, you can purchase Program Insurance here: Insurance Program | Junior Volleyball Association (jvavolleyball.org)

It is $110/team and covers all coaches and players every time they step on the court (tryouts, practice, events, camps, etc)
